I know it’s been a while since I last posted, I had planned to do my review of the year as well as best books of 2022 by now but unfortunately life got in the way. They will still be coming don’t worry. However today we’re here for my first blog tour of 2023 and I’m so excited to share this with you guys as it’s a little out of my comfort zone. This tour has been organised by the wonderful Zoe from Zooloo’s Book Tours, a massive thank you to both Zoe and the author for inviting me along and providing me with a copy of the book.

The Iron Fists is the first book in a New Adult Fantasy series so let’s jump in…

Long ago there were six species: the Shadows, Gods, Beasts, Dragons, Humans, and Rebels. The humans locked them away to gain power of the world. When a nihilistic, Mexican young adult girl is summoned into the world beneath our own she discovers her true power and purpose alongside The Iron Fists who are dead-set on overthrowing the overlord who terrorizes them. Her lies get her in the door, but it is her resilience and growth that makes her essential to the cause. Devastation and death expose the nature of each character’s soul as some rise to greatness overcoming otherworldly challenges, mystical curses, and their status as underdogs while others reveal their true colors and betray the ones they claim to love.

New adult fantasy is definitely not my usual genre so I was a little nervous to read this, however I’m so glad that I picked the book up, it was such an addictive and quick read.

I absolutely loved learning about the six species and the back stories of our characters, each having their own well developed personality. The world building was phenomenal, I could fully visualise the shadow realm and what was going on down there.

Following Iris on her personal journey was a joy, seeing her realise that she was no longer alone, that she was surrounded by people who cared for her started to warm even my cold heart. But don’t mistake this for being a heart warming happy read, there is so much darkness and I’m here for it all.

I hope we don’t have to wait too long for the next instalment as I can’t wait to be back with the rebels.
