-| Audiobook Review… The Paris Apartment |-

I’ve not long finished listening to The Paris Apartment by Lucy Foley and wanted to share my thoughts with you so let’s get started…

Welcome to No.12 rue des Amants
A beautiful old apartment block, far from the glittering lights of the Eiffel Tower and the bustling banks of the Seine.
Where nothing goes unseen, and everyone has a story to unlock.
The watchful concierge
The scorned lover
The prying journalist
The naïve student
The unwanted guest
There was a murder here last night.
A mystery lies behind the door of apartment three.
Who holds the key?

This is the second book that I’ve read by Lucy Foley, the first being The Guest List which I really enjoyed. The structure of The Paris Apartment was quite similar in terms of an unlikely group of characters being brought together. I loved that this book was set in Paris with some French characters, the audiobook really brought this to life and definitely enhanced my experience of the book.

As with The Guest List we did have some unbearable characters but I felt that this just added another level to the story. Lucy Foley has a way of keeping me engaged with the story by slowly unravelling the mystery just enough to keep me on the edge of my seat almost begging for more. It was really nice to see that some tough topics were tackled in here as well as the murder mystery.

I’ve seen quite a lot of people disappointed with this book and to be honest that’s to be expected with Lucy Foley, her books always seem divide readers. If you enjoyed The Guest List then you will probably enjoy The Paris Apartment aswell.

I decided not to give the book the full 5 stars as it didn’t knock my socks off however it did keep me guessing until the very end and has cemented Foley as an author that I will continue to read from.

Rating: 4 out of 5.

  1. My sister and mum are both fans of Lucy Foley but are yet to get their hands on this book! I like the sound of it so when they do I’ll have to give it a read too. For some reason the amount of people is making me think of the orient express 🤣. I enjoyed your review as it was to the point without giving anything away. Great post! ✨
