Blog Tour, Book Review

-| Blog Tour… Million Eyes II: The Unraveller |-

So I’m back with another blog tour, this time for the second book in the Million Eyes trilogy by C.R. Berry. You may remember that I read the first book last January and absolutely loved it (I will leave the link to that review below) this came as a massive surprise to me as it is a time travel book which I had never read before. So when I was contacted by the author to see if I would be interested in reading the sequel I jumped at the chance, a massive thank you to both the author and Elsewhen Press from providing me with a copy of the book and inviting me along.

Let’s jump right in…

Million Eyes Review

Following an impossible discovery in East London, archaeologist Dr Samantha Lester joins forces with software developer Adam Bryant to investigate the events that led to the disappearance of his best friend, Jennifer, and to bring down the people responsible – Million Eyes.
Before long, Lester and Adam are drawn into a tangled conspiratorial web involving dinosaurs, the Gunpowder Plot, Jesus, the Bermuda Triangle, and a mysterious history-hopping individual called the Unraveller, who is determined to wipe Million Eyes off the temporal map.
But as the secrets of Million Eyes’ past are revealed, picking a side in this fight might not be so easy.
Million Eyes II: The Unraveller is the second book in the Million Eyes Trilogy by C.R. Berry.

I’m so happy to be back in this world. I feel like C.R. Berry writes incredibly complex stories where all the plotlines are woven together in such a beautiful way that I won’t be able to create a review that will do this book justice. I’m shocked that the first book in this series seems to have flown so far under the radar, it only has 39 reviews on goodreads which seems insane.
I actually featured that book in my Books I’ve Loved With Less Than 200 Ratings on Goodreads post.

I have to say that I loved the second instalment even more than the first which is why I’ve given this book 5 stars and I didn’t actually realise it was part of a trilogy until I’d finished the book so I’m extremely excited that we have one more to come. As this is the second in a series I can’t go into detail in terms of the main plot as the bones of the structure are mentioned in the synopsis. I absolutely love travelling back through history and seeing it through a different perspective questioning whether these events could be the work of a time traveller such as what was responsible for the extinction of dinosaurs and who the father of Boudicca really was.

Adam and Dr Lester’s investigation into the conspiracy of Million Eyes made this book addictive as it was dangerous and led them both on journeys that they weren’t expecting.

C.R. Berry’s writing is brilliant and I really wish people would stop sleeping on his work, please do yourself a favour and give this series a go, I can guarantee you won’t regret it.

Rating: 5 out of 5.

So Who is C.R. Berry?

C.R. Berry started out in police stations and courtrooms—ahem, as a lawyer, not a defendant—before taking up writing full-time. He’s currently head of content for a software developer and writes fiction about conspiracies and time travel. (Note: he’s not a tin foil hat wearer, doesn’t believe 9/11 was an inside job, and thinks that anyone who believes the Earth is flat or the Royal Family are alien lizards needs to have their heads examined.)
Berry was published in Best of British Science Fiction 2020 from Newcon Press with a Million Eyes short story. He’s also been published in magazines and anthologies such as Storgy and Dark Tales, and in 2018 was shortlisted in the Grindstone Literary International Novel Competition.
In 2021, he bought his first house with his girlfriend, Katherine, in Clanfield, Hampshire, discovering whole new levels of stress renovating it (not helped by a rogue builder running off with most of their budget). The couple are now in the fun stage, going full-on nerd and theming all the rooms—their bedroom is a spaceship, their kitchen a 50s diner.
Now that the dust is settling, Berry is refocusing on the final book in the Million Eyes trilogy and getting back to writing his first collaborative novel with Katherine: a space-set adventure with aliens, terrorists, a mysterious wall that surrounds the universe and—of course—conspiracies.

See you in the next one…

  1. Thanks so much Blair! This review made my heart smile. Wonderful to read your shock at the first Million Eyes only getting 39 reviews, too! It’s difficult for indie books to get attention so hopefully your review will help! Thanks so much for coming on the blog tour.
