I thought that I would give you guys a little run down of what I’ve been reading and what I’m making my way through while I’ve been away.

What I’ve Been Reading…
I’m still in a reading slump so honestly I’ve not read very much recently, however now we’re settled in the new house I’m hoping that I will be in a better headspace to concentrate on books.
Fortuna Sworn (Fortuna Sworn #1) by K J Sutton

I picked this book up hoping that something different to my usual reading tastes would keep me interested enough to see a book through to the end and that’s exactly what happened. I enjoyed this so much more than I expected. This is actually the first fae book that I’ve read so I was a little worried about the mate issue which is usually mentioned in most fae books however that wasn’t an issue here. Fortuna is a ‘Nightmare’ which means that when she touches people she can see their fears if she wants to she can make them see and feel those fears.
I really enjoyed her as a character and I’m definitely going to be picking up the second book in the coming months.
Written in Blood (Robert Hunter #11) by Chris Carter

If you’ve been here for a while then you will know that this is one of my favourite series, however this book isn’t getting 5 stars from me. I’m not sure if it’s because of the slump i’ve been in and I forced myself through it or if this book just didn’t hit the mark the same as the others did. I couldn’t connect with this book and it didn’t make me feel anxious as with the others, this may have just been an issue with me,

The Resident by David Jackson

THERE’S A SERIAL KILLER ON THE RUN
AND HE’S HIDING IN YOUR HOUSE
Thomas Brogan is a serial killer. Having left a trail of bodies in his wake, and with the police hot on his heels, it seems like Thomas has nowhere left to hide. That is until he breaks into an abandoned house at the end of a terrace on a quiet street. And when he climbs up into the loft, he realises that the can drop down into all the other houses on the street through the shared attic space.
That’s when the real fun begins. Because the one thing that Thomas enjoys even more than killing, is playing games with his victims. And his new neighbours have more than enough dark secrets to make this game his best one yet…
Do you fear The Resident? Soon you’ll be dying to meet him.
I’m only about an hour into this audiobook but from the very beginning it drew me in, I will definitely be listening to this on my commutes to work this week.
Hardcover
Lazarus (Joona Linna #7) by Lars Kepler

Sweden’s most notorious serial killer.
Jurek Walter was shot and killed years ago. The police moved on and managed to forget the darkness that had tainted their lives.
Has come back from the dead.
But now someone is leaving a trail of broken bodies across Sweden and the clues all point to Walter. Detective Joona Linna is convinced his worst nightmare is becoming a reality: the man who tore apart his family has returned to finish the job.
He doesn’t just kill you. He buries your loved ones alive.
When Joona’s partner is taken – and locked inside an underground coffin – he finds himself with an impossible choice: leave her to die or walk into the trap set by the only man he ever feared.
You may know that this is my favourite Nordic Noir series, I don’t want to rush through this or force myself to read it when I’m not in the mood. I’m about 250 pages in and I’m really enjoying it, Lars Kepler are the perfect writing duo and they aren’t disappointing in this instalment. I will say that this series isn’t for the faint-hearted and won’t be for everyone.
