Top 5 Saturday

-| My Quarantine Reads… Top 5 Saturday |-

Top 5 Saturday is hosted by Mandy over at Devouring Books and today’s theme is books to read while quarantined so I’ve picked the 5 books at the top of my TBR pile apart from my O.W.L reads so it won’t be repetitive.

The Upcoming Schedule Is:

4/4/20 — Books to Read while Stuck Inside/Quarantined

4/11/20 — Books with a Colour in the Title

4/18/20 — Sibling Relationships

4/25/20 — Books Under 300 Pages

All Fall Down (Helen Grace #9) by M.J. Arlidge

“You have one hour to live.”
Those are the only words on the phone call. Then they hang up. Surely, a prank? A mistake? A wrong number? Anything but the chilling truth… That someone is watching, waiting, working to take your life in one hour.
But why?
The job of finding out falls to DI Helen Grace: a woman with a track record in hunting killers. However, this is A case where the killer seems to always be one step ahead of the police and the victims.
With no motive, no leads, no clues – nothing but pure fear – an hour can last a lifetime…

Finally the next instalment in one of my favourite series is being released in June and I’ve received an eARC from the publisher through NetGalley so I’m beyond excited to start this!

Honor Among Thieves (The Honors #1) by Rachel Caine & Ann Aguirre

Petty criminal Zara Cole has a painful past that’s made her stronger than most, which is why she chose life in New Detroit instead of moving with her family to Mars. In her eyes, living inside a dome isn’t much better than a prison cell.
Still, when Zara commits a crime that has her running scared, jail might be exactly where she’s headed. Instead Zara is recruited into the Honors, an elite team of humans selected by the Leviathan—a race of sentient alien ships—to explore the outer reaches of the universe as their passengers.
Zara seizes the chance to flee Earth’s dangers, but when she meets Nadim, the alien ship she’s assigned, Zara starts to feel at home for the first time. But nothing could have prepared her for the dark, ominous truths that lurk behind the alluring glitter of starlight.

I received a physical copy of this book from the publisher a few months ago so I really want to read and review this one. I’ve been craving Sci-Fi recently so this may be my fix.

Rattle (The Bone Collector #1) by Fiona Cummins

A serial killer to chill your bones
A psychopath more frightening than Hannibal Lecter.
He has planned well. He leads two lives. In one he’s just like anyone else. But in the other he is the caretaker of his family’s macabre museum.
Now the time has come to add to his collection. He is ready to feed his obsession, and he is on the hunt.
Jakey Frith and Clara Foyle have something in common. They have what he needs.
What begins is a terrifying cat-and-mouse game between the sinister collector, Jakey’s father and Etta Fitzroy, a troubled detective investigating a spate of abductions.
It is a glimpse into the mind of a sinister psychopath. And it’s also a story about not giving up hope when it seems that all hope is already lost.

This has been on my bookcase for a few years now but I’ve recently seen the audiobook on Scribd so I think I will listen to this one next.

Six Stories (Six Stories #1) by Matt Wesolowski

1997. Scarclaw Fell. The body of teenager Tom Jeffries is found at an Outward Bound center. Verdict? Misadventure. But not everyone is convinced. And the truth of what happened in the beautiful but eerie fell is locked in the memories of the tight-knit group of friends who embarked on that fateful trip, and the flimsy testimony of those living nearby. 2017. Enter elusive investigative journalist Scott King, whose podcast examinations of complicated cases have rivaled the success of Serial, with his concealed identity making him a cult internet figure. In a series of six interviews, King attempts to work out how the dynamics of a group of idle teenagers conspired with the sinister legends surrounding the fell to result in Jeffries’ mysterious death. As every interview unveils a new revelation, you’ll be forced to work out for yourself how Tom Jeffries died, and who is telling the truth.

I’ve had my eyes on this for so long so I really hope I can get to the eBook of this soon.

The Final Empire (Mistborn #1) by Brandon Sanderson

Once, a hero rose to save the world. He failed.
For a thousand years since, the world has been a wasteland of ash and mist ruled by the immortal emperor known as the Lord Ruler. Every revolt has failed miserably.
Yet somehow, hope survives. Hope that dares to dream of ending the empire and defeating the Lord Ruler. A new kind of uprising is being planned—one that depends on the cunning of a brilliant criminal mastermind and the determination of an unlikely heroine: a teenage street urchin named Vin.
Once, a hero rose to save the world and failed. This time, can a young heroine succeed?

You may remember that I started this book, I think I read about 150 pages but I had to put it down as I had loads of blog tours so I’d love to pick it back up.

What would your quarantine reads be?
See you in the next one…
