So, as you can see from above I’m reviewing Rewind which is a brand new psychological thriller with a unique structure. I’ve been seeing loads of reviews for this recently so when I saw it in my library I knew that I had to pick it up.

I devoured this within two days! The structure is completely unique, each chapter is a different point in the timeline, either before (rewind), during (pause) or after (play) the murder. As well as that there are time stamps with every chapter showing the exact point in the timeline you are.
It did take me a little while to get into the swing of things, but after maybe the first 50 pages the book became so addictive because of this.

This is definitely a modern thriller as Natalie is a Instagram influencer, this is her day job as she has a huge following which has given her the opportunity to buy her dream house. I love that the author touched on the topic that Natalie controlled what her followers would see. We assume that the people we follow must have the most perfect lives and we want what they have, however, what we don’t realise is that they only post what they want us to see. They don’t post that most days they are lonely and are hiding in front of the fire waiting for their husband to come home from work.

The one thing that let this book down for me personally was the setting, I just couldn’t connect with it, I understand that this is a very minor point but I always want to be honest with you guys.

Pretty much all the characters in this book are flawed and morally grey, it was so interesting finding out how each of them are involved. I felt that the more I learned about each character made them more guilty and likely to be the killer. I think that the suspense was beautifully done as I couldn’t put the book down until I knew what had happened!

Oh boy, let me tell you, this ending did not disappoint! I can’t remember the last time I was this excited and satisfied when finishing a psychological thriller. At one point I even shouted out loud, my partner had no idea what was going on! I honestly recommend this to those who have been let down recently with thrillers, this is completely unique and I just couldn’t get enough.
Rewind is fully deserving of 4 and a half cups of coffee out of 5!
