So, this is super exciting!! I’m taking part in my first ever readathon and it just so happens to be The Reading Rush which the majority of the book world seem to be doing.
If you haven’t heard of this before it was previously “BookTubeAThon” they now have a website where you can create your profile, update your progress and make friends.
There are 7 challenges over 7 days from Monday 22nd – 28th July (yes this monday!) and each of them gains a badge! There’s also a bonus badge for if you read 7 books in the 7 days, obviously I want that badge! Last month I managed to read 16 books which averages out at 4 a week and that was without trying to cram as many books in as I could. 7 should be easy right?
Are you ready to join me?
1 Read a book with purple on the cover

A Part of Your World by Liz Braswell:
I’ve heard mixed reviews about this book, but The Little Mermaid is one of my favourite Disney Movies (even though I did ruin it in my Disney Origins post, if you missed it click the link here)
This has been on my bookcase for a while now so it’s time to give it ago.
Page Count: 497
2 Read a book in the same spot the entire time

Tangleweed and Brine by Deidre Sullivan:
I only received this book last month in my Book Box Club (click here for my unboxing)
This wasn’t even the featured book but it’s full of retellings so I’m excited, it will be the first book of short stories that I’ve read.
Page Count: 180
3 Read a book you meant to read last year

Misery by Stephen King:
This may come as a shock but I’ve never read a book by Stephen King, I’ve been wanting to get my hands on this for so long and I finally found it at my library.
Page Count: 369
4 Read an author’s first book

Red Rising by Pierce Brown:
This is the book that I’m most excited about, since I became familiar with BookTube I’ve been desperate to read this and I finally bought it so I’m super excited for this.
Page Count: 400
5 Read a book with a non-human main character

Dracula by Bram Stoker:
This is the only book that I will be listening to on audio, I had such a struggle trying to find a book that fit this brief that I wanted to read. I’m looking forward to reading the original Dracula book.
Page Count: 399
6 Pick a book that has five or more words in the title

The Strange Case of Dr Jekyll & Mr Hyde and other stories by Robert Louis Stevenson:
I was planning on reading The Adventures of Sherlock Holmes, however the edition I had was 500 pages and because I really want to read 7 books I needed to cut my pages down!
Page Count: 212
7 Read and watch a book to movie adaptation

Red Dragon by Thomas Harris:
If you don’t already know, this is the first book in the series that was turned into the Hannibal movies.
I really enjoyed these movies when I first watched them with my dad but that was so long ago that I can’t remember much about them, except of course that he’s a cannibal! So i’m really excited for this.
Page Count: 430
Bonus – Read 7 Books
I think we all know by now that I really want to read 7 books!
Total of pages I expect to read: 2,487 wow! That is gonna be a serious challenge!

Here’s the link to my profile on the reading rush website, i’d love to connect with you all and see your TBR’s.
Also, what readathons have you taken part in? If this goes well I would love to get involved with others.
See you all in the next one…

Good luck!! I will be travelling a lot in the next weeks and so I won’t be setting myself up for failure like that haha but I can’t wait for my first readathon! I haven’t done one yet xD
