Rapid fire book tag

So today is Tuesday and I decided to take part in this tag, it was a large task but so satisfying.
Here goes…

E-book or physical book?

Always a physical book! I do have my kindle as that is where the majority of my ARC’s are from NetGalley and blog tours. But there’s just something so satisfying about holding a physical book and turning the actual pages. It always pulls me further into that world.

Paperback or hardback? 

Hardbacks are beautiful and look fab on my bookcase, however, when it comes to ease of reading in bed it is much more comfortable to read paperbacks.

Online or in-store book shopping? 

I love being able to walk through stores and being surrounded by books, its so calming and makes me happy. Although, I do the majority of my shopping online at amazon and charity shops as I simply cannot afford to satisfy my book habit from stores such as Waterstones.

Trilogy or series? 

I love the idea of trilogies, but when it comes to me closing the last book i’m so sad that there will be no more of the characters I have come to love.

Heroes or villains? 

I want to say heroes, however, the books that I read the majority of heroes are detectives, who I do find myself loving a lot more than the serial killers. There are exceptions of course.

A book you want everyone to read?

The Joona Linna series by Lars Kepler, so far my favourite of the series is Stalker, I would love everyone to experience this.

The last book you finished? 

I Know Who You Are by Alice Feeney.

3.5 rounded up to 4. Very mixed feelings with this book.
The only reason for the low score is that this book made me feel so uncomfortable in some parts that I considered not finishing it. I rarely feel uncomfortable reading so this was quite disturbing. 
The reason I did carry on was because of the plot, I needed to know what was going on, it seemed so bizarre. 
The quality of the writing was really good and helped my decision in carrying on with this book.

Weirdest thing you’ve ever used as a bookmark? 

The minion toy leaflet from my little boys kinder egg toy haha!

Used books: yes or no?

Yes! The majority of books that I own are from charity shops, it adds so much character to the books.

Top three favorite genres? 

Psychological thrillers
Nordic Noir
Police Procedurals

Borrow or buy?

I love borrowing books from my library, however, seeing bookcases full of my books that I get to keep makes me feel happy. Having to give a book that I loved back does make me a little sad, like i’m saying goodbye to a friend as silly as that may sound.

Character or plot?

Plot, that is usually why I pick up a book and the character development is the reason why I carry on the series.

Long or short books? 

Long books can be an amazing journey, however it needs to keep me interested else it just because a chore for me to finish. A prime example of this was I am Pilgrim by Terry Hayes, I had to keep coming back to this over the span of a year just so I could finish this book.

Books that made you laugh or cry?

I may seem a little heartless but I don’t normally cry while reading, I do sometimes do the odd chuckle but my normal reactions are shock and intrigue.

Our world or fictional?

97% of the books that I read are in our world. However, since exploring the blog community I have expanded my genres, for example recently I have read Illuminae and Cinder which are completely different to the worlds to the settings that i’m used to.

Audiobooks: yes or no?

Yes Yes Yes as mentioned before while writing this i’m listening to One More Lie. I get headaches quite a lot due to my seizures so it’s a good rest for my eyes, i’m still able to be sucked into a world with my eyes closed.

Do you ever judge a book by its cover?

I’m so guilty of this! Most of the time, in Waterstones, blog posts and amazon I am only drawn to the covers that catch my eye.

Book to movie or book to TV?

Book to TV, I feel that when a book is turned into a movie there is so much that is missed out. How can you turn a book which when read as an audiobook is usually around 10 hours into a film that is usually less than 2 hours long.

A movie or TV show you preferred to the book?

The only answer I can think for this question is Before I Go To Sleep, the second half of this book was spoiled for me so I didn’t finish the book. I really enjoyed the movie though.

Series or standalones?

Series are my favourite, I become attached to the characters and love following them throughout the books. When I find myself in a little reading slump a standalone is perfect to shake me out of it.
