Reviewing Darke Blood

So, today i’m reviewing Darke Blood by Lee Hall, now I know what you’re thinking, this is a crime fiction blog Blair, why are you reviewing a supernatural book? Well this is actually my first vampire novel, and boy am I glad I read this!

Being completely honest, I did had reservations when starting this book, my only experiences of vampire fiction are the TV shows that my partner watches.
Now that I’ve finished the book I could actually see this book made into a series! I would definitely watch it anyway.
The dysfunctional relationships between vampire, witch and human were really interesting. The different points of view as well as the flashbacks really made Darke Blood hard to put down!

I did have to draw the line at the ‘creatures’ in the forest, that just isn’t me cup of tea. However, I did appreciate that this wasn’t taken too far, so it didn’t ruin my reading experience at all!
This was a book where you related to the supporting characters just as much as Blake and Caitlyn, for example, I became very fond of Angus!

Caitlyn and her sister were both still down and I was sitting on my ass as our underdog saviour entered the game and saved the day.

Blake Malone

This book wasn’t the cliche of a dark stranger arriving in town and rescuing the damsels. Blake doesn’t even know who he is, never mind taking on vampires and witches!

I was blindsided by the last 20% of this book, like where did all these revelations come from?
Mind = Blown

I’m a little surprised that this book only has 18 ratings on Goodreads! I would recommend this to anyone who enjoys supernatural reads. It’s definitely made me think about expanding the genres that I read.

So, overall Darke Blood is getting a massive 4 cups of coffee out of 5!
