20 Questions

So, I decided to do this 20 questions as a kind of get to know the blogger post, I love reading these and finding out more about the person behind the writing, so I thought that I would get involve. Here goes…

How do you feel about cliff-hangers?

They can either be amazing or so frustrating! If the book is part of a series and I have the next book then I love them! However, if it is just a standalone book at the time (I’m looking at you Handmaids Tale!!) then I find it so infuriating.

Hardback or paperback?

This is a difficult question, in terms of aesthetics I love Hardbacks, however in terms of being able to get comfy in bed and read I would have to say that I prefer paperbacks.

Favourite Book?

These questions are so difficult! I would have to say The Handmaids Tale, I came to this conclusion because I don’t reread books, when I’m reading I want to escape into a world or story that is new to me. This book is the only one that I have considered rereading.

Least Favourite Book?

My least favourite has to be Sorry by Zoran Drvenkar, when I finished this book I was so annoyed that I had wasted my time. Everything about this book was below average , I don’t really have much to say about this tbh.

Love Triangle… yes or no?

I don’t have a strong opinion on this, I don’t really mind, they aren’t in crime and thrillers very much.

The most recent book you couldn’t finish?

The Secretary by Renee Knight, I enjoyed her first book Disclaimer, however this was such a slow burn that I got half way through and just decided to start something else, it really didn’t keep me interested.

A book you’re currently reading?

Blacklands by Belinda Bauer

The last book you recommended to someone? 

You Let Me In by Lucy Clarke, this was one of the best books that I read last year so I often recommend this.

Oldest book you’ve read (based on publication date)?

Of Mice and Men by John Steinbeck which was published in 1937, I studied this back in my English Language GCSE 9 years ago! Wow that has flown! We also went to see this as a play which was actually really good.

Newest book you’ve read (based on publication date)? 

My Lovely Wife by Samantha Downing which is being published next week on the 26th March 2019! If you haven’t read my review on this book then you can find it here.

Favourite author? 

I don’t necessarily have just one all time favourite author, however, I do have five go to authors, I won’t even read the synopsis of the book, if they have written it, then I will read it.

Buying books or borrowing them?

Buying! Don’t get me wrong I often borrow books from the library, however, I love being able to keep the books and see them on my bookcase everyday.

A book you dislike that everyone else loves?

Bookmarks or dog-ears? 

Now, this may make me an enemy within the reading community, I misplace my bookmarks all the time! So the majority of my books do have dog-ears and to me that isn’t a problem it’s just part of the charm of books.

A book you can reread over and over?

I mentioned this in one of the earlier questions, but I have never actually reread a book, the only one I have considered rereading (but haven’t) is The Handmaids Tale.

Can you read while listening to music?

If there is music just in the background like at a cafe or home then I can, but I can’t listen to music that I enjoy as I find myself often getting distracted.

Multiple POVs or one POV? 

The more POVs the better! I love viewing stories from different perspectives, so I really do enjoy this.

Do you read a book in one sitting or over multiple days on average?

If I had the choice I would read in one sitting, however I have a two year old little boy which makes this very difficult, so I usually just have to squeeze in a few chapters whenever I can.
