Happy New Year Readers. I am dreaming of this Toffee Nut Latte from Starbucks again! So, anyway. I have just finished The Child by Fiona Barton and I have had to pick my jaw up from the floor. What a twist! Normally from halfway through books I usually have an idea of what I believe the twist will be so it’s not normally as shocking, however this one seemed to come out of nowhere which made it even more shocking.
So this book starts off with the discovery of a newborns skeleton in a building site. Kate is a journalist at The Daily Post looking for the next big story, she comes across a three line story about a babies skeleton being found. She sets her sights on finding out who’s the mother of this baby and how did this baby even end up buried. Barton takes us through the effects this story has on three main characters, Angela the mother of a newborn who was abducted from the hospital, Emma, a book editor who seems to be haunted by something in her past. And Kate, the journalist who is determined to find out the truth from this complex story.
The Child is gripping and kept me up late trying to finish this book. This definitely deserves 4 out of 5. Looking forward to get stuck into more of Fiona Barton’s books.
